About Us
FATES designs and sells beautiful and exclusive fashion accessories which are, as far as possible, produced according to the principles of Fair Trade. We use only natural and recycled materials which guarantee modern and unique designs for our bags, shawls and jewellery. Every piece tells its own individual story. We design a part of the collection ourselves but also work together with other exciting young Dutch designers. We work closely with small manufacturers in developing countries. Our collection is produced with care for people, animals and the environment.

P.S. All our products are handmade. Therefore there may occasionally be small imperfections or vaåriations in colour. These are not faults but part of the individual character.
1. How to shop online with FATES
Once you have selected your item, choose the desired size, colour and quantity. You will immediately see whether this article is currently available or if it will be available at a later date. If the item is in stock, it will be despatched as quickly as possible. If the item is not currently in stock, you will see an expected time for restocking in the text. However, please do note that this is only an approximate timing. Because we work with small individual producers in developing countries, despite our very best efforts, circumstances can sometimes lead to unforeseen delays in new stock arriving. The unpredictability of both energy supplies and the weather can lead to powercuts and blocked roads, causing delays. Some things are beyond our control and we ask for your understanding in this. If you wish to buy the item, then click on “order” and the item will be put in your shopping basket. You can then choose whether you wish to continue shopping or go straight to the checkout. You can always alter the amount in your basket, add , delete or change items, look at other suggested options. Once you have finished shopping, click on the checkout button where you can then decide how you wish to pay, complete registration details and choose your delivery option. You can also add any discount or promotional codes here. If you are an exisiting FATES customer, please enter your user name and password. If you are a new FATES customer , you will need to register your details. Registering makes it easier for you to place orders in the future. The online instructions will guide you through the registration process. Once you are logged in as either a new or existing customer, or have entered all relevant information, you will need confirm your delivery choice and then proceed to Payment. Before you are requested to confirm your order, you will receive a complete overview of your order. Enter your payment details and click Confirm order An email confirmation will be sent to your registered email address .
2. Privacy Policy
We respect the privacy of all visitors to our site and we make every effort to ensure that the information you give us is protected to the highest standards. We will never pass your details on to a third party but use it exclusively to ensure that your order is completed as quickly and efficiently as possible.
3. Customer Service
We do our utmost to ensure that your purchase meets your full and complete satisfaction. However, in the unlikely event that you are not completely happy with an item or our service, we want to hear from you please. FATES will always endeavour to resolve any problems or issues arising from your order. To try and avoid such problems arising, we have a few important terms and conditions . 4. Secure Payments
How do I pay and is it safe?
We want you to feel confident about every transaction you make. We encrypt your credit card information to ensure your transactions with us are private and protected . Your payment details are held in an encrypted format and are never passed on to a third party. Payment processing is carried out for us by Multisafepay. Once you order from us and proceed to payment , you are automatically connected to the website of Multipay. Here you can chose how you wish to pay, either by credit card (Master/Visa) or through your own bank account via Ideal. European customers can use Mister Cash (Belgium), Giropay (Germany), Carte Bleue (France) or Maestro. You will then receive a confirmation email of your order and payment. Quick, easy and safe. You can also pay via Paypal, if you have a Paypal account.
5. Delivery
How will my order be sent and what will it cost?
We want to be sure that you receive your order as quickly and safely as possible. That is why we use a courier services for within the Netherlands. Your order is insured. We use TNT Post for orders for outside of the Netherlands. Our delivery charges include all our administrative costs and you pay one flat delivery fee, irrelevant of the weight of the package. We like to keep things simple and clear.
Within the Netherlands €5.00 (courier service) EU countries and Switzerland €12.00 (via TNT Post) Rest of the world €20.00 (via TNT Post) For orders over €300.00 within the Netherlands free postage For orders over €350.00 for all other countries free postage
Can I have my order sent to another address?
Of course you can choose to have your order sent to a different address from that of your billing address, for example when you want to send a gift. Our lovely packing makes every order look like a gift ! You can choose your delivery address at the time of registering your order.
How long will I have to wait for my order?
We will do our utmost to ensure that your order is sent out as quickly as possible. We aim to despatch within 14 days from receiving your order. Delivery timescales are given with each item. If the delivery is going to be delayed, we will let you know immediately. We process and despatch all orders in the sequence in which they are received. In the event of you ordering several products, and one of them being out of stock or delayed, we shall send you the available items immediately and then once the remaining items arrive, send these on to you, at no additional cost.
6. Exchange & Returns
How do I exchange or return an item ?
We have a no quibble exchange or returns policy. You can exchange or return for any reason (although we should very much appreciate knowing if you were unhappy with the item in any way). As long as we receive the returned item within 14 days of the receipt of your order, in an undamaged condition, we’ll exchange or refund it, no questions asked. You can just call the courier service and they will collect the parcel for €13.00 Then both you and we are insured against any problems . Or you can of course use the TNT post (or your normal postal services if abroad) but please, we do recommend that you send it registered so that it has to be signed for and you are insured against any potential loss. You are responsible for returning the parcel safely to us in order for us to be able to exchange or refund the item. You will be charged the delivery costs in the case of sending out a new order as part of an exchange.
Why don’t we offer you free returns?
We have thought about this long and hard , but most companies that offer this absorb the costs in other areas – for example putting up the price of their products. We don’t want to do that, so decided to keep things as transparent as possible by letting you know from the offset that it’s our policy to charge for returns. We do sometimes offer free returns during special promotions, so keep an eye out!
How long does it take to process my returns?
We try to process returns as quickly as possible, but please allow up to four weeks from us receiving the item.

What if I want to exchange my item for something cheaper or more expensive?
We will refund the price difference between your item and a cheaper one, or require extra payment to match the price of a more expensive one. We will contact you either by email or telephone. We do expect of course that any returned items will be in their original packing and in their original state. We cannot take responsibility for anything that has been damaged and are therefore unable to offer any refund, should this be the case. Should you choose to use the regular postal services, we can not regrettably be responsible for any items that are either damaged or lost. Therefore we would advise using a courier service, who will then take over that responsibilty.
Can I exchange or bring back an item to the shop?
We are happy to offer you the extra service of being able to exchange or return items in our shops. There you can exchange an item for another colour or size or chose something else. If you are just returning an item for a refund, then we will refund you your money as quickly possible back into your account. Please don’t forget to bring your receipt with you! We can not exchange or refund items without it. And to avoid any disappointment, do please call us to check that we have the item you are after in stock.
